Maleic anhydride functionalized polymers

Maleic anhydride (MAH) functionalized polymers are non-polar thermoplastics and rubbers which have been grafted with MAH by reactive extrusion. The maleic anhydride lets the otherwise nonpolar polymers bond to various substrates and polar polymers. In addition, they thus become compatible with polar polymers and act as a compatibilizer. MAH functionalized soft and flexible polymers can thus function in polar polymer systems as impact modifiers.
